Big Dumpz field guide

What Can and Cannot Go in a Dumpster?

Common non-hazardous household, renovation, furniture, and yard material can often go in a dumpster. Hazardous chemicals, fuel, batteries, wet paint, asbestos, and regulated waste cannot. Tires require separate handling, and heavy debris needs approval.

Dumpster accepted materials guide

01

Commonly accepted

Household junk, many furniture items, wood, cabinets, non-hazardous remodeling debris, branches, bagged yard material, and similar project waste are commonly accepted when properly loaded.

02

Never assume hazardous waste is allowed

Chemicals, fuel, oils, batteries, wet paint, asbestos, medical waste, and other regulated materials require a separate disposal route. Do not hide or mix them into a load.

03

Confirm special items

Appliances, electronics, mattresses, refrigerant equipment, large stumps, treated material, and unusual items may have facility rules or added charges. List them before booking.

04

Tires stay separate

Waste tires cannot be mixed into the standard landfill load. Big Dumpz is an FDEP-registered waste tire collector and can quote a separate pickup based on type and count.

05

Weight matters

Concrete, soil, masonry, shingles, and tile need an approved load plan. A trailer rated to 14,000 pounds still has equipment, towing, road, and facility limits that apply to every haul.

Accuracy note

Disposal and placement rules can change and may differ by city, facility, property, and material. Verify current requirements for the exact address and load before work begins.
