Big Dumpz field guide

What Size Dumpster Do I Need for a Home Project?

Choose a dumpster by both volume and weight. Household junk often fills space first, while concrete, dirt, shingles, and tile reach safe hauling weight long before the container looks full. Share the material and estimated amount before booking.

What dumpster size do I need?

01

Start with the material

A garage cleanout, kitchen demolition, and landscape project can produce similar-looking piles with very different weights and disposal requirements. Make a short material list before comparing containers.

02

Volume-limited projects

Furniture, boxes, bagged household items, cabinets, and light remodeling debris often use container space before they reach the towing limit. Break down bulky items when safe and keep the load below the top edge.

03

Weight-limited projects

Concrete, masonry, dirt, plaster, roofing, and tile can reach weight limits at partial volume. Never assume a trailer can be filled to the top with dense material. Get a load plan first.

04

Access can decide the equipment

Measure gates, driveway width, turning space, overhead branches, wires, and the clear placement zone. The right capacity is not helpful if the delivery vehicle cannot safely reach the site.

05

Send photos when uncertain

A few wide photos and a material description let Big Dumpz ask better questions. Include a familiar object for scale and show the access path as well as the pile.

Accuracy note

Disposal and placement rules can change and may differ by city, facility, property, and material. Verify current requirements for the exact address and load before work begins.
